Under-Eye Filler in Laguna Niguel: Who It Helps and What to Expect

Tired eyes are one of the most common things people mention when they sit down with us at Enclave Med Spa in Laguna Niguel. You sleep fine, you drink your water, and still the area under your eyes looks hollow or shadowed. For the right person, under-eye filler can make a real difference. For others, it is not the right fix. Here is how to tell.
What Causes Under-Eye Hollows?
The area just below the eye, often called the tear trough, can look sunken for several reasons. With age, we lose some volume and fat in the face, and the skin here is thin to begin with. Genetics play a big role too. Some people have hollows in their twenties. The result is a shadow that reads as "tired" even when you are not.
How Under-Eye Filler Works
A small amount of soft hyaluronic acid filler, such as Restylane® Eyelight, is placed carefully beneath the hollow to smooth the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek. The goal is not to "fill" the area until it looks puffy. It is to soften the shadow so you look more rested.
Because the under-eye is a delicate area with important blood vessels nearby, technique and experience matter here more than almost anywhere else on the face. Many injectors use a blunt-tipped cannula in this area to reduce bruising and risk.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
- You have a visible hollow or groove under the eye that casts a shadow
- The skin under your eyes is in reasonably good shape (not very crepey or loose)
- You do not have significant puffiness or "bags"
- Your expectations are realistic: softer and fresher, not brand new
When Filler Is Not the Answer
If your concern is mostly puffiness, fluid, pigmentation (dark circles from color rather than shadow) or a lot of loose skin, filler can make things look worse. In those cases, skin treatments, a different filler location such as the cheek, or a referral to a surgeon may be a better route. We will be straightforward with you about which camp you are in.
What to Expect
The treatment takes about 20 to 30 minutes, with numbing cream beforehand. Mild swelling and some bruising are possible for a few days, so avoid booking right before a big event. Results are often visible right away and continue to settle over a couple of weeks. Under-eye filler commonly lasts around nine months to a year, sometimes longer, because the area does not move as much as the lips.
